What To Do In Todos Santos

The authentic Mexican town of Todos Santos is starting to become a serious alternative to Cabo, which has become largely overrun by tourism. Unique to this town are its colonial buildings, cobblestone streets, upscale boutiques and stores, art galleries, fine dining establishments, organic farms, and breathtaking sunsets.

A few kilometers distant lies a barren desert, in stark contrast to the luxuriant tropical greenery around the modest historical center.

Because of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, the climate in this region is significantly different from the rest of the country. Mango trees, papaya groves, and coconut palms all thrive because of the ample rainfall in this region.

What attracts people to Todos Santos?

Todos Santos has long attracted a steady trickle of tourists for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is its reputation as one of Baja California’s top surfing destinations.

Other visitors may be lured here by the legend of the Hotel California, though this is not the same hotel made famous by the Eagles’ timeless hit. Please accept my apologies for this temporary setback.

There are also those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life in order to indulge in some R&R, staying in one of the many five-star hotels that have been constructed atop the red brick walls of historic colonial mansions, taking in the breathtakingly beautiful sunsets on the area’s empty beaches, and dining at the newest, most innovative gourmet eatery.

Surfing in Todos Santos

There’s no contest: surfing is the most well-liked thing to do in Todos Santos.

If surfing is what you are here for, consider El Pescadero. El Pescadero is a little community located 6 miles from Todos Santos that serves as a magnet for surfers. There are two famous surf beaches located there.

Popular Playa Los Cerritos offers surfboard rentals and lessons in abundance. Playa San Pedrito, also in the vicinity, is an excellent surfing place with nearby camping amenities. In addition to a modest restaurant, there is also a bar.
