Is the Beach in Todos Santos Swimmable?

Yes—but only in certain places, and only when conditions allow.

The beaches directly in Todos Santos, such as Playa La Poza and Playa La Cachora, are beautiful and wild—but not ideal for swimming. These stretches of coastline face open Pacific swells and often have powerful shore breaks and rip currents. That doesn’t mean you have to stay dry, though. There are no lifeguards on most beaches in Todos Santos—only Cerritos Beach has seasonal lifeguard presence during high season, so it’s important to exercise caution and know your limits in the water.

Is the Water Warm in Todos Santos?

For much of the year, yes.

Ocean temperatures are typically warmest between June and October, ranging from 78°F to 84°F (25°C to 29°C). This makes for comfortable swimming and water activities. From November through April, temperatures dip to around 68°F to 72°F (20°C to 22°C), which is still tolerable for most people but can feel chilly without a wetsuit if you are in the water for a longer time. 

Can You Snorkel in Todos Santos?

You can—but it’s not the ideal location for snorkeling.

Todos Santos sits on the Pacific Ocean, while the best-known snorkeling destinations in Baja are found on the Sea of Cortez side. While there are occasional tide pools and calm moments at beaches like Cerritos Beach, snorkeling conditions here are generally not as favorable due to the open-ocean surf and lack of reef systems.
